The name Christells was chosen to imply that Christ’s message can be told through the inspiring words and music of religious songs. This trio consists of three young ladies with one thing in common, the love for good music and singing. Sue Johnson, the first soprano, was born in Fredericktown, Missouri. She is presently living in Cleveland, Tennessee, and is employed as sec- retary to the Sunday School Editor of the Church of God of Prophecy. Vivian Lawson, the second soprano, was born in Georgia. She was employed for the Church of God of Prophecy Radio Department for six years, and for four and one-half years served as hostess on Gospel Concert Hall. She and her husband are presently employed as houseparents for the small children’s orphanage home in Cleveland, Tennessee. Betty Barker, the alto, born in Hampton, Virginia, was active as musician in her local church before starting college. She is the wife of the Min- ister of Music of the Church. She is attending college, doing undergraduate work in the field of education and music. All three of the girls have recorded as soloists and in other trios for Broadcast Record Club. They are active sopranos in the Voice of Salvation weekly programs. It is their desire to express their love for God through song. They have performed at youth banquets, local churches, Fields of the Wood, convalescent home, Virginia State Convention, and presented a one hour program of music accompanied by a ten piece orchestra for the Tomlinson College Spring Banquet. Much credit is due Walter Ambrose, who has arranged several songs on this album and accompanies the trio on the piano. It is their hope that as you listen to the Word in song, that you will visualize with your spiritual eye a better world to come . . . where a song can be heard forever.
