Description

Blue Note BLP 1526 with New York USA on both labels; 43 West 61st ST. address at the bottom of the back cover, mono. Record has "RVG" inscribed in the dead was; no "ear". Side 1, 5 tracks with Brown, trumpet; Gigi Gryce, alto sax, flute; Charlie Rouse, tenor sax; John Lewis, piano; Percy Heath, bass; Art Blakey, drums. Recorded in 1953. Side 2 has Brown and Lou Donaldson, alto sax, co-leaders; Elmo Hope, piano; Percy Heath, bass; "Philly" Joe Jones, drums. Recorded in 1953. Name of previous owner written on 1 label.

Cover: VG(-) 2 piecs of scotch tape bind both sides of the top edge. The edge appears to have completely split. 2 splits on the spine, 2" and 4". The length of the splits is hard to determine as there is some fraying of the paper on the spine. Partial record ring on the gloss finished front cover. Name and record date are written in the margin of the back cover. There is also a record ring and some aging on the back cover. Some edge wear as described.

Record: Mint(-) Visually shows no wear. Probably played a few times and handled with care. No surface noise. Fine sound, typical of the best of Nlue Note's recordings. I have added the (-) to indicate that the record was played but, as mentioned. there is no surface noise on either side Fine recording. Audibly checked.
