Collectors, here is an amazing Columbia ten-inch record, #455. An a cappella male "vocal quartette" performs the "Farmyard Medley". Fine, lively singing with imitations of cows, pigs, and other farm animals, an entertaining listing. The record plays loud and quite well with some surface noise.
The Sherman-Nauck book "Note the Notes" dates a record with this style label to a late 1902 release! The first ten inch record dates to July 1901. The name "Victor Talking Machine Company" dates to October 1901. The most common record in 1902 was the fifty cent Edison two minute gold molded cylinder. So, in late 1902 very few people owned a disc phonograph. A ten inch record was expensive, and how many records like this are still in existence 120 years later? Unknown, but the answer must be "not many"! If this is what you like do not pass it up, go for it!
