Description
Columbia #2076-D KING NAWAHI HAWAIIANS 1929
MALIA
HAWAIIAN CAPERS
Good minus---some light wear and surface scratches. One deeper than light surface scratch. The needle clicks a couple of times when passing over it. The record actually sounds surprising clear, with less “background” than some of the others I’ve listened to.
The sound quality seems consistent throughout each song. I am NOT an expert, but there are no skips or bumps while playing.
My Dad passed away several years ago and left behind an extensive collection of 78s that he lovingly collected and cared for over the first two thirds of his life. Mom has finally decided that it's time to clean out the basement and let some of this go.
Most of these records had not been touched in over 25 years (they've been in sealed boxes), and many look like they're in brand-new condition. All have been gently cleaned and played to assess condition. I will describe each to the best of my ability. Please feel free to email and ask questions.
This is the grading scale I'll be using:
Very Good: No visible wear or scratches
Good: Very light wear and a few light surface scratches
Fair: Heavier wear and more than a few light scratches
The paper sleeves I am grading as in fair condition, as most all of them either have creases, writing or small tears. That way, if you get one in better than fair condition you'll be pleasantly surprised, and if it's just actually "fair condition", you won't be disappointed. ;-)
I'll be listing around 500 78s in the next few months. Dad certainly had an eclectic taste in music, as included are dance music, jug bands, jazz, blues, big band, Irish airs, country, marches, spirituals and even comedy! Labels include Victor, Brunswick, Vocalion, Harmony, Victrola, Columbia, Perfect, Decca and Velvet Tone. All are in what I assume is their original paper sleeves unless noted.
Shipping is $4.00 media mail in the U.S. for up to 3 records. Please add $1.00 for each additional record. If you would prefer priority mail or international shipping, please contact me with your details so I can calculate shipping costs. Insurance is optional, but I will not be responsible for damages if insurance is not purchased.
All records will be packed between sturdy cardboard sheets along with bubble wrap to insure safe shipping.
Since I'll be listing records over a period of weeks, if not a couple of months, I'll be more than happy to wait for payment for up to 30 days in case there is something else you would like to add to your collection and combine shipping. If you are high bidder and would like to take advantage of this offer, PLEASE CONTACT ME WITHIN 3 DAYS at the end of auction so I don't invoice you. Otherwise, please remit payment within 7 days.
Hope you can find something in this collection to add to yours and I hope they bring you as much enjoyment as they did to my Dad.
This is going to be my last week of listing 78s on ebay (will stop on July 31). Gotta quit while there is some summer left to enjoy! My mom and I want to thank all of you who have bid on Dad's records---I'm sure they're going to good homes. :-)
If you are a collector of 12-inch 78s or vinyl, I'll be back at the end of September to list the rest of his collection (and any stray 10-inches I find). Have a wonderful summer!
