Description

Columbia ML 4001 1ST LP Mendelssohn VIOLIN CTO Milstein Walter RED 1948 VG++

TOMBSTONE CARDBOARD COVER  W/ NO SEAM SPLITS

RECORD IS VG++ W / A FEW LIGHT SURFACE SCUFFS – THESE CAUSE SOME LIGHT SURFACE NOISE & AN OCCASIONAL POP / TICK –ESPECIALLY ON SIDE 1 AS THE SCUFF CAUSES POP / TICKS

HOWEVER MONO DISCS OF THIS TIME PERIOD HAVE SOME INHERENT SURFACE NOISE DUE TO INFERIOR RECORDING TECHNIQUES -1948

These ML 4001 pressings came in this craft paper blue and white top-open envelope for only a few weeks, then Columbia switched to the Steinweiss designed heavier cardboard side-open sleeve which came in yellow, red or green, all with the "tombstone" logo (actually a Greek column or theater proscenium after a design by Steinweiss which first appeared on the cover for the 78 rpm set of this violin concerto in 1946).

Mendelssohn - Concerto in E Minor for Violin amd Orchestra Op 64
