Description
ARTIST: Cook and His Dreamland Orchestra
LABEL: Columbia 727
TITLES: Here Comes The Hot Tamale Man / Spanish Mamma
CONDITION: Near Mint no scratches no scuffs label clean and clear see pictures. However, after looking at the record under magnification I did discover something. Look at pictures 3 and 4 this is very hard to see but there is a one inch "crack" on one side and two 1/2 inch "cracks" on another side. I think these are crakes in the shellack not the record as they does not transfer to the other side but you can fell it with the edge of your fingernail so I want to include this information. GOOD NEWS - IT DOES NOT APPEAR TO ALTER THE SOUND, I tested the record and it did not alter the sound as far as I could tell. The other record I have by Cook does not have this problem.
DESCRIPTION: Paddy Harmon's Dreamland Ballroom was located on the Near West Side of Chicago at the intersection of Paulina and Van Buren streets. Paddy Harmon's was a large commercial ballroom and roller skating rink which catered to young working class whites and had a generally squeaky-clean reputation. Doc Cooke was the conductor and musical director of the Orchestra at Paddy Harmon's from 1922 to 1927. Spanish Mamma and Here Comes The Hot Tamale Man were recorded in Chicago during 1926. This is an original record from that time.
THANKS FOR LOOKING AND GOD BLESS.
