Description
This is an original 1958 promotional copy of Count Basie’s iconic E=MC2 "Basie" LP (Roulette R-52003), arranged by Neal Hefti. This copy has significant historical value, having been stamped with the name of Fred Garrett, a 1950s R&B radio disc jockey at WAMM in Flint, Michigan, adding a layer of unique provenance to this already rare item.
The vinyl plays remarkably well given its visual G+ grade, with most scuffs and scratches being superficial. Surface noise and crackle are surprisingly low, and no skips, pops, or repeats were noted during test playback. Scratches were occasionally audible but did not detract from the overall listening experience.
The jacket is graded VG, featuring some corner wear, a drill hole in the top right corner, and wear to the sleeve opening due to the jacket’s heavy construction. The artwork remains vibrant and highly presentable.
