Description
For your consideration is a lot / grouping of rare vintage 10 inch 78 rpm records by Milton Brown and His Brownies. Brown is generally overshadowed by his associate Bob Wills. The two started off together in the Light Crust Doughboys, where they were playing a wide repertoire that included both white and black idioms. After Brown got into a dispute with W. Lee O'Daniel about money, he went off on his own and started the world's first Western Swing band. In late 1934, Brown would add Bob Dunn to his lineup and record the first amplified steel pan guitar solos for Decca the following year. The Musical Brownies achieved immediate success from their broad appeal due to Brown's eclectic influences. Bob Wills took notice, and not long after started his own western swing group. By 1936, the Brownies were the most popular country music band in the nation. In April of that year however, tragedy struck when Brown fell asleep at the wheel of his car near Fort Worth and died in the hospital five days later. His untimely passing contributed in part to Bob Wills becoming the most famous and well remembered figure in the genre, instead of Brown. Nice grouping!

All of our old shellac and vinyl 78 records are packed with utmost care and precaution so as to ensure they arrive to you in the same condition in which they were shipped out. I have extensive experience shipping 78s. For an in depth explanation of my shipping methods, see the bottom of this page. All items will be shipped within 3 days of purchase. All good faith offers thoroughly considered.
Keep in mind that for the highest fidelity reproduction results, a correct sized, well maintained stylus should always be used and antique records should also always receive a deep cleaning with a stiff bristled brush and a non-alcohol based soap. I do not provide grading beyond what is required by eBay. If the photographs prove insufficient, do not hesitate to reach out with a question, as well as any other type of inquiry related to an item.
All 78 rpm records, vinyl or shellac, will be shipped sandwiched between either thick cardboard or some spare 78 rpm discs to provide substantial reinforcement for uneven pressure placed on a package during shipment. The record sandwich is then suspended in packing peanuts on all sides. Packing peanuts are the optimal durable memory material as they will insulate your item against any acute forces such as a fall or any type of blow and unlike bubble wrap will not pop and lose their shape if subjected to a strong force.
