LP a copertina apribile a spessa cartonatura, appartenente alla rara collana commemorativa “Hot Rod Warner Pioneer 10Th Year” stampato su etichetta Atlantic rossa e verde, con inserto aggiuntivo di 4 pagine, riportanti i testi in inglese. OBI a colori a sfondo rosso, riportante il prezzo di 3.000 Yen. Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young (spesso contratto nell'acronimo CSN&Y) è il nome del popolare supergruppo musicale statunitense di musica Pop/Rock che conobbe un momento di grande notorietà nei primi anni Settanta. I musicisti che lo formarono provenivano da tre gruppi attivi nella metà degli anni Sessanta e specializzati nel repertorio folk-rock (gli statunitensi Byrds e Buffalo Springfield e gli inglesi Hollies). Tali gruppi erano considerati una sorta di alter ego dei Beatles e, almeno in parte, un tentativo di risposta americana allo strapotere del gruppo di Liverpool. Il supergruppo CSN&Y - più volte sciolto e più volte ricomposto sotto forma di duo o trio, in combinazioni differenti - è tornato ad esibirsi dal vivo nella primavera del 2005. I componenti sono quattro fra i più apprezzati cantanti, autori e musicisti della scena rock degli ultimi quarant'anni:

David Crosby (già chitarrista, autore e cantante dei Byrds )
Stephen Stills (cantante e chitarrista dei Buffalo Springfields e, successivamente, dei Manassas)
Graham Nash (autore e chitarrista e tastierista del gruppo inglese degli Hollies)
Neil Young (autore e chitarrista dei Buffalo Springfield e, successivamente, del gruppo dei Crazy Horse; forse colui che ha avuto il maggiore successo anche come solista; presente in alcuni concerti dei Traveling Wilburys di Bob Dylan).

La formazione base era inizialmente costituita dal trio Crosby, Stills & Nash: nel 1969 fu pubblicato il loro primo album il cui titolo era costituito semplicemente dai loro cognomi e che scalò rapidamente le classifiche di vendita. Solo successivamente ad essi si aggiunse Neil Young (in occasione del Festival di Woodstock). Furono tre gli album pubblicati a cavallo degli anni sessanta e settanta: Déjà vu; So Far (da citare la cover disegnata da Joni Mitchell); ed il doppio live 4 Way Street che costituisce la summa del loro percorso artistico unitario (contiene tra le altre la celebre canzone-invettiva Ohio scritta da Neil Young in memoria dell'eccidio compiuto nel 1970 a Kent (Ohio) quando la polizia sparò su studenti pacifisti uccidendone quattro) che divenne il loro personale manifesto contro l'impegno statunitense nella guerra del Vietnam). Altri brani da segnalare nella produzione di quegli anni sono: "Teach your Children", "The Lee Shore", "Suite Judy Blue Eyes", "Carry On", "Right Between the Eyes", "Love the One You're With", e la loro interpretazione di Woodstock di Joni Mitchell. Anche singolarmente - nel divenire di lunghe anche se non sempre lineari carriere - i quattro componenti del CSN&Y hanno riscosso un notevole successo sia in termini di popolarità che di vendite di dischi. 4 Way Street, noto anche come Four Way Street, è il titolo del terzo album pubblicato da Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young nel 1971. È un doppio live registrato nel giugno del 1970 al Fillmore East di New York, all'Auditorium di Chicago ed al Forum di Los Angeles. L'album contiene materiale che era già stato pubblicato su altre registrazioni in studio sia in raggruppamenti vari che come dischi individuali dei quattro. Al momento dell'uscita dell'album due brani di Nash e due di Crosby non erano stati ancora pubblicati ufficialmente dagli autori: "Chicago," che sarebbe stata pubblicata un mese dopo sull'album Songs for Beginners di Nash, e "Right Between the Eyes"; "The Lee Shore" di Crosby, e la discussa "Triad", registrata dai Jefferson Airplane sul loro album del 1968 Crown of Creation, e dai The Byrds, ma non pubblicata sino al 1997 come bonus track sulla riedizione di The Notorious Byrd Brothers. Nel il 15 Giugno 1992 è stata pubblicata su CD una versione espansa dell'album che includeva quattro canzoni in più per ciascuno dei membri del gruppo. Young esegue un medley di tre brani dai suoi primi due album solisti ; Stills include "Black Queen" dal suo album di debutto Stephen Stills, un pezzo che avrebbe rivisitato molte volte nell'arco della sua carriera; Crosby aggiunge una versione di "Laughing" dal suo primo album solo If I Could Only Remember My Name; Nash suona "King Midas In Reverse," singolo del 1967 del suo gruppo precedente The Hollies. Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young (CSN & Y often contract the acronym) is the name of a popular U.S. music supergroup Music Pop / Rock which experienced a moment of great notoriety in the early seventies. The training base was originally formed by the trio Crosby, Stills & Nash in 1969 was released their first album whose title was made simply by their surnames and quickly climbed the charts.
