Description
Killer original GERMAN pressing from 1971! Flawlessy executed glossy vinyl, telefunken pressed with also legendary skully lathes… just a beautiful masterwork of musical art, from the cover to the amazingly crisp grooves!
I've heard both the UK and the German pressing, and I would hands down, now vote for the German press! The UK is certainly a wonderful pressing, but lacks a certain amount of consistency with the vinyl, some of which had pressing errors… the german pressing we have here is just nothing short of high art! The art of mastering and recording reaching its' pinnacle here!
NM disc with the original lined inner sleeve. Swirl label with one side having credits and the other just swirl! The German version did not have the swirly inner sleeve as the UK version did. The gatefold sleeve rates as VG+ with clean colors that pop, as much as the grainy effected photo will… the seams have a slight amount of wear with the bottom seam of the envelope portion being unglued a little near the opening, an issue you see often with European pressings offering lighter weight card stock than the US versions typically. There is no real creasing or ring or rub or adhesive residue/pulled paper showing… just excellent! There is a little localized creasing on the back center portion of the envelope. Some very light rub to the seams and spine, consistent with a well kept copy that was opened… the spine is legible. Just an amazing copy that sounds incredible!
I Have uploaded track one of side one with the trail-on grooves audible for a few seconds to illustrate how clean and quiet this pressing is, all the way out to the furthest edge! I also allowed the full fade out and the first 20 seconds of the next song to show how quiet and noise free this pressing is, not to mention the nice NM condition.
Since Ebay no longer allows or makes it possible to link audio to Auction pages, you will have to search this sample out at Archive dot org and search for "Daddy Longlegs LP RIP EBAY SAMPLE RUBBER TYRE" on the web site. It will be worth it for your own peace of mind!
Thank you for coming by and enjoy the tunes! Happy listening! Jim
(this is a NO RESERVE auction, starting at just $2. Don't forget to put your best bid out! A copy like this is bound to ge a higher price, as it is a superior copy that blows away the sadly lacking and equally scarce CD reissue and truly shows the superiority of quality vinyl and the state of the art German pressings from this time! While these go for $150-200, with the extra data and condition of this LP, the scarcity of finding this LP in this condition, you may see a higher bid than usual, possibly higher than it even lists in the books!) Good Luck to you!
