Vintage lp - DAFOS - self-titled - Reference Recordings, audiophile copy, 45 rpm 12" lp with 7 tracks, gatefold jacket, released in 1983; Scarce record featuring Mickey Hart of the Grateful Dead, Airto, and Flora Purim. Beautiful top copy! Däfos is a musical ethnography of an imaginary country created by Mickey Hart and Airto Moreira. The album was recorded live in San Francisco as a celebration of percussion music with the help of Jose Lorenzo and his Brazilian percussion group Batucaje. The album was produced without the use of overdubs. The songs lead listeners on a journey across deserts and icecaps, through the fictional geography and mythology of Däfos, and features traditional Brazilian, Indonesian and African instruments, woodwinds and electric bass guitar.
Condition: EX++/EX+ (vinyl is close to NM with only some very minimal, nearly-invisible sleeve scuffs and a touch of minimal spindle marks to labels; jacket is has some light minimal corner rubbing).
