DAFT PUNK'S FIRST EVER RELEASE - THE NEW WAVE (SOMA)
Hi, and thanks for looking at my listing.
For sale is a 12" copy of the first ever release from the legendary Daft Punk, entitled "The New Wave". It is in very good condition and the picture is of the actual item for sale.
As everyone knows, Daft Punk are a duo consisting of Paris house musicians Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter. The duo are considered one of the most successful electronic music collaborations of all time, both in album sales and in critical acclaim. After Daft Punk reached significant popularity in the late 1990s house movement in France, other artists such as Air, Cassius and Dimitri from Paris began to receive a similar amount of attention. Daft Punk are also credited with producing songs that were considered essential in the French house scene.
"The New Wave" was the first single ever released by Daft Punk, and was released in 1994 on the Soma Recordings label (which is the copy available). It was later released the same year on the UMM label under license from Soma Recordings. The track came about In 1993 when Daft Punk attended a rave at EuroDisney, where they met Stuart Macmillan of Slam, co-founder of the label Soma Quality Recordings. The demo tape given to Macmillan at the rave formed the basis for Daft Punk's debut single, "The New Wave". The single also contained the final mix of "The New Wave" called "Alive", and it was this version of "The New Wave" that went on to appear on their debut album Homework.
The track listing for this item is as follows:
A: The New Wave (Full Length) 7.00
A: The New Wave (Edit) 5.05
B: Assault 5.40
B: Alive (New Wave Final Mix) 5.00
P&P within the UK will be £3.30, via Royal Mail. I will ship worldwide, but P&P outside the UK will be dependent on the winning bidders location.
