Description

Dante's Inferno "Decadence and annoyance" & Mick Ness "Gruopsound" tape with magazine issued by Tago Mago (4753) in Holland, 1982. Edition limited to 1500 numbered copies. This copy No. 483 / 1500. ****** Tape:ex / Cov:m- / Mag:vg+++ ****** Mick Ness' real name is Mick Witkamp, who started to play music in 1975. In 1982 they made the recordings for this tape, one of the best examples of minimal style to me. Their music sounds apart, is abrupt in movement, strict in rhythm with very few concessions to any other existing form of music. It's the total opposite which forms a perfect non-aesthetic harmony. The voice of Mick Ness is surprisingly in contrast with the theme, hard to grasp, impossible to foresee and difficult to subscribe. Sometimes is like a knife, cutting rhythm and melody in two totally opposite parts. The songs selected for this tape are maybe the most danceable, but raw and extreme in melody. Mick Ness "Groupsound" was recorded in 1981 directly on a 2 track machine and was voluntary deformed and over-modulated. On this tape there is also the French band Dante's Inferno. The music here is more atmospheric with pulsating sparse electronic sounds looping in the background, with a more recited hallucinating voice. Dante's Inferno recorded their music on a four track machine from January to April 1982 and mixed the tape in May 1982. The tape was released by Tago Mago, the infamous French magazine, who had a department in Holland at that time. Also included is the 12-page wonderful magazine in English and French, featuring original photos, poems and liner notes. A parfect time capsule artifact from the early 1980s. ****** The magazine would be graded m- if it was not for a scotch residue on the front page. ****** Please wait to receive my invoice before sending the payment after the auction ends.
