GREAT COPY OF THIS WONDERFUL EARLY 70's ARTIFACT. ORIGINAL CHARISMA CAS 1065.

LARGE HATTER LOGO. MANUFACTURED BY B&C FULLY LAMINATED COVER WITH THE ULTRA RARE 3D LIPS.

IN BEAUTIFUL CONDITION, NO COVER WEAR, THE DISC LOOKS LIKE IT'S HARDLY BEEN USED, STILL IN IT'S ORIGINAL PAPER INNER.

I HAVN'T EVEN CLEANED IT, THERES JUST SOME LIGHT DUST. I WOULD PREFER THE LUCKY NEW OWNER TO CLEAN IT.

IT'S LIKE A TIMEWARP OVERALL I WOULD GRADE AS NEAR MINT (I DON'T LIKE TO USE THE TERM MINT).

Read All About Darien Spirit – Elegy To Marilyn

A British folk-rock band notable mainly for the presence of bass guitarist Dennis Cowan, who arrived fresh from the dissolution of Bonzo Dog Band and went on thereafter to end up in the original band for The Rocky Horror Show. Darien Spirit were a breath of fresh air, a brief, bright spark in the Paper Bubble, Whistler, Driftwood, Hunter Muskett, Hobo mould of the jangly melodic melancholic style of typically 'English' folk soft rock, with lovely haunting earnest songs faultlessly executed with acoustic guitars, bass, drums, piano and some lovely atmospheric swirling strings. Leaving behind only one criminally ignored album, Elegy To Marilyn. They also released a couple of non album singles, both of which flopped. The songs of main writers Jack McAllister and Harry MacDonald have that wonderful summery naive early 70’s quality and who knows given a couple more years, to refine their song-writing, they could have gone on to much greater things. Produced by the noted Steve Rowland of The Family Dogg who produced such diverse artists as Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick And Titch, P.J. Proby, The Pretty Things and Sarah Brightman amongst others and ably engineered by the late great Martin Rushent who worked with so many famous artists, the album was in safe hands. Some early copies of the album came with gimmick 3D changing plastic lips stuck on a picture of Marilyn Monro's mouth. Without the lips there is No mouth giving the more common 'mouthless' covers a rather odd blank look. Of the band members, only Cowan and percussionist Frank Riccotti continued to be visible in the music business. Other band members Alan Waterson, Jack McAllister and Harry MacDonald vanished into obscurity. Perhaps more remembered for the cover gimmick featuring 3D changing lips on a picture of Marilyn Monroe, not only the cover, but the music enclosed here, more than stands the test of time.
