Rare vintage novelty rock 45: DAVE JAY - ME FOR PRESIDENT b/w THESE FOOLISH THINGS (Remind Me of You) - Big Time Records, BT 100; AUTOGRAPHED on both labels by Dave Jay. B-side is by "Dave Jay with Art Gumm and His Rubber Band". Very obscure! I can't find any other copies of this online. It was released in 1956 and is a presidential campaign spoof which uses clips of real songs along with spoken word - he mentions addressing Communism in Hollywood by rounding up Marilyn Monroe and other beauties to take them in a room and "[song plays] "dim, dim the lights" and how his grandfather was an upstanding member of the community (followed by a clip from the song by the Diamonds - "he wore black denim trousers and motorcycle boots...". The B-side is a standard that had been recorded by Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald and Etta James, among others, and he's kind of doing an Al Jolsen thing.
Condition: VG- (a few scratches and scuffs and an imperfection in the vinyl cause some ticking and background noise, and it's not the best recording to begin with; labels are clean).
