DAVID BOWIE ALADDIN SANE PLUS 2 SINGLES JEAN GENIE & REBEL REBEL
I bought it new from the legendary Musicland at 44 Berwick Street Soho.The Marix numbers are: Side I: CPRS4543 Side 2: CPRS4544 The centre is the original glossy orange version rather than the latter matt one but, although I bought it within a few days of release, I don’t think it’s a first pressing.
The disc retains its deep, black vinyl sheen, is clean and glossy and plays well apart from some very slight vinyl hiss between tracks that doesn’t detract from the overall sound, which is still amazing. The record lays flat on the turntable and plays really well. The labels have no signs of use, have no writing and are clean with no visible spindle scratches. I’ve always tried to look after my albums; from 1970 I only ever played them on a Pioneer PL12D with a Shure N75 ED-T2 cartridge and stylus, tracking at 1.5 gms which I continue to use today – although the stylus has been replaced regularly.
The gatefold sleeve is still bright and glossy in very good condition with no tears or splits There isn’t any writing, taping or stickers; no edge wear and the spine is firm and totally legible. The original blue inner sleeve/lyric sheet is too; apart from a small crease about two inches up from the bottom that extends approximately one inch in from the spine on side two and half an inch on side one. It doesn’t obscure the lyrics though. (See photo). The white inner inner sleeve – as it were – is still in very good crisp, stiff condition. I will also include the original plastic outer that I bought with it. Amazingly it still fits tightly and has successfully kept the dust off for all these years.The Singles

Both have some hairline marks on both sides but nothing ugly or deep to affect the sound quality. The records are clean and glossy lay flat on the turntable and play well. The labels show some minimal signs of use, have no writing and are clean with some minimal spindle marking. Although Jean Genie has one of those plastic centre pieces, that’s how it came from the shop (that was quite common at the time). Rebel Rebel also benefits from the psychedelic style single sleeve that RCA were using for a short while at this time. The sleeves are still in very good condition with no tears or splits but there is some slight creasing where the edge of the record sits, nor is there any writing, taping or stickers.
These records are a lovely piece of genuine memorabilia from a bygone time that changed the world and would grace any collection. I’m not a dealer of any sort, but am just downsizing and having to clear things out. You could accuse me of being mawkish and cashing in on Bowie’s death – but, when you’re surviving on a poxy pension, you have to take every opportunity! I’m starting it at a low price so a genuine fan or collector can enjoy it without paying rip off prices. I’m gradually clearing out my 300+ L.P.’s but because I feel duty bound to listen to them all for any faults and produce an accurate assessment of the sleeve etc, it takes a long time to list each one. However, if there’s something that you are particularly interested in, feel free to ask if I’ve got it. After that I’ve got to work through 500+ singles and loads of other stuff!

A Word About Payment and Postage
Sorry but I accept Paypal only and it will be posted as soon as payment has cleared, which must be paid within 24hours of the end of the auction. This may seem harsh but I’m fed up with time wasters! I use I use 12" Vinyl LP Record Cruciform postal mailers and protect them with an additional layer of bubblewrap.. The boxes cost £1.60, which may seem steep, but the records stand a far better chance of surviving the journey unscathed. Consequently, I have to pass this cost on as the ‘packing’ element of ‘P&P’ as well as the cost of my 12 mile round trip to the nearest Post Office. Postage is for Royal Mail Signed For® 1st Class which, while dearer than what many other sellers offer, does at least give a better chance of things arriving and some comeback if they don’t. What’s more you get your record much sooner!
In the unlikely event of this selling for more than £50 the postage will be a bit more to cover the cost of insurance - please wait for the invoice. If you require some other form of postage/delivery I’m more than happy providing you meet the extra costs.
