Description
Here is a rare UK firstpress of David Bowie's 1973 masterpiece "Aladdin Sane"! Has glossy orange RCA labels and a stamped "CPRY 4543 3T" "CPRY 4443 3T" with the faint carved addition "A5 E", "A2 Z" in the run out groove.
The cover is a super heavy gatefold ("Interpak by Shorewood Packaging Co.Ltd.England") with a matte finish and to be honest I've never seen a better presentation of the iconic coverart than on these UK originals. While later issues can be glossy or pale or too bright here the color fidelity is just perfect. The impressive sleeve houses a lyric inner made from solid cardboard and an autographed (preprint!!!!) fan club application form that is missing in most copies nowadays.
There can be absolutly no doubt that this is the best version available of this classic album, "Aladdin Sane" NEVER looked or sounded better than on these UK originals!
Condition: This has always been handled with care, the orange labels look like new and are completly free from spindle marks. The vinyl delivers superb audio with only the very occasional surface noise. The record simply looks and sounds fantastic. There is only one flaw: It has a slight warp that is completely inaudible but noticeable when the first side spins on the turntable. I guess a recordflattener could easily correct this. Sonically and visually (playing surface, label) this is between Excellent and Near Mint, because of the warp I rate it as Very Good.
The cover has some yellowing that came with age (typical for this album) but still looks fantastic with no seamsplit, zero ringwear and a nicely preserved, fully readable spine, the solid inner is just the same: Excellent. The fan club form has had one corner bend in the 39 years it has spend in this cover (now fixed but noticeable) but is complete without any writing or cuttings: Very Good+.
All in all a very decent, very collectable copy of one of Bowie's greatest albums!
