DAVIE JONES AND THE KING BEES

"LIZA JANE"

Great condition UK Decca 1970s re-issue of this, the legendary and iconic first David Bowie recording from 1964. UK Decca pressing of two super-rare early David Bowie tracks from 1964!! Both sides are brilliant pounding mod beat numbers. "Liza Jane" is a mod / freakbeat MONSTER of the very highest order!!

Davie Jones with The King Bees "Liza Jane", as everyone now knows, is the debut single by the one and only David Bowie!!

On offer here , from my own long time BOWIE collection, is this original and official UK Decca 7" single issue, made a LONG LONG time ago and even as a re-issue is extremely rare and elusive these days! I have personally owned this fabulous single for over 30 years! The vinyl is in superb EXCELLENT condition with a beautiful sheen and plays perfectly. Audio is fantastic! The single comes housed in a Decca Records generic company sleeve.

Historical Footnote:

Over Forty Five years ago, on June 5th 1964, the first ever David Bowie single was released!

Featuring a 17 year old Davie Jones (vocals and saxophone), George Underwood (guitar), Roger Black (guitar), Francis Howard (bass) and Robert Allen (drums).

"Liza Jane", although credited to Leslie Conn, David's manager who had negotiated a one-single deal with Decca, the song was actually an old Negro spiritual that the band had played around with and turned into an R'n'B song.

Backed with "Louie, Louie Go Home", written by Paul Revere, both songs were recorded in a seven-hour session at Decca Studios in Broadhurst Gardens, West Hampstead, London.

Absolutely essential record for any serious David Bowie fan or 60s mod / freakbeat collectors!!
