"After many months of preparation the final touches were added in Dallas. Here David Bowie rehearsed with his band for two weeks to get the Serious Moonlight set together. Musical leader Carlos Alomar had a great part in this, as can clearly be heard on this album. What makes these rehearsals unique is the different atmosphere compared to the live concerts in 1983. This is also caused by Stevie Ray Vaughn, who was at that time still a member of the band. A few weeks after these sessions he was replaced by Earl Slick, who stepped in at last notice.This record shows a very relaxed and spontaneous band on the verge of the highly praised 1983 tour". So states the blurb from the back of this album!
I'm not too sure when this actual vinyl release appeared but the rehearsals contained herein are now 25 years old now and a real rarity - search the web for it and see how many times this comes up in original vinyl format, it doesn't! It comes from my own collection and has been cared for properly since Day One having been housed in its plastic-lined inner sleeve with care and then the sleeve housed in a touch plastic outer. The platter is in excellent condition with very few surface marks and just one spindle mark on one side and there are no visible scratches at all - its in excellent condition for its age and has not been abused!
Likewise the "fold-over"sleeve is in great condition and overall its an outstanding example of this sought-after release.
Ludicrously I've seen some shops list this for up to £100 (ridiculous!) but my starting bid is much more realistic and offers someone the chance to snap this up at a bargain price! Feel free too to email me if you want to make me a Buy-It-Now offer. If you're even half-way interested in this rarity, don't pass this by as I've never personally seen the original vinyl release ever appear on eBay, certainly not in this condition or, indeed, with such a generous starting price! And as to the actual cuts, what more can one say?! All are absolute Bowie classics!
Yeah, you can probably download this from some manky site but this is the original vinyl - first-time round stuff and its vinyl what counts ain't it?!!! Make a note of my ID if you're into House, Soul, Funk & Jazz (and a few Rock) rarities as I'll be outing from my extensive collection some further very rare original grooves over the coming months that you won't wanna miss - demo's, promo's & white labels included.
