Description
For sale is an original 1972 David Bowie Space Oddity LP on the RCA label. This version is a USA pressed Dynaflex record that was imported to use in the UK with UK printed outer and lyric inner sleeves. The Dynaflex material was used for a period in the early 1970's during an oil crisis and regular vinyl was in very short supply. This is covered in more detail in a forthcoming book about Bowie's early period titled, "Shooting Up Pie In The Sky." That will be a stunning publication, by the way, look out for it.
Both sides have machine stamped matrix numbers as follows:
A side matrix: BPRS 4501 4S (Also has A5 stamped some way before the main number)
B side matrix: BPRS 4502 2S (Also has B3 stamped some way before the main number)
CONDITION
Please note that I can only grade visually and therefore cannot confirm if any marks on the records, where present, affect playing in anyway. Please see photos for more detail. Although, due to reflections and fineness, it is difficult to show any scuffs/marks etc in a photo/
Record: The record has retained it's glossy sheen and looks in excellent shape with only a few very minor surface marks from what appears to be light playing/handling.
Main outer Sleeve: I would grade the outer sleeve as being in very good condition, again with minimal wear. Very slight ring wear and minor creasing from handling. A little shelf wear on the bottom edge and what appears to be some sticker residue in top left corner on the front. The spine is in very nice shape and there are no splits on any of the edges. Overall, the cover is in really nice condition.
Inner Sleeve: Again, no splits in any of the edges. The usual handling creases for a paper inner sleeve of it's age with some age discolouration to the white borders.
