Give me mountains of cocaine, and I’d end up in a corner, rocking back and forth, and muttering, “Easy, easy, easy.” Give David Bowie mountains of cocaine, and he produces Station To Station, a monochromatic masterpiece, a mashup of American rock and funk with European minimalism and avant-garde. The music is easily some of Bowie’s most accessible. Hell, you can actually dance to it. And yet, to get to it, you have to go through Bowie’s Station To Station persona, the Thin White Duke, who is anything but accessible. Worth it.
