HERE IT IS !

Of all the collectable Bowie LPs out there , and there are a lot .

In terms or RARETY , COLECTABILLITY and DESIRABILLITY ,

Few Bowie records fly higher than this gem !

Firstly , if your after a mint copy of this LP , LEAVE NOW .

This one is`nt mint .If it were it would have a reserve of £2000 and it would by far surpass that figure.

Many websites say that there were 500 of these pressed in 1971, I know many people in the music industrie and all doubt that figure very much .Even if there were 500,how many are out there .Many sites also state there are a few differences to the tracks here but I disagree , ALL the tracks are noticably  different either by way of mixing or in the case of Quicksand , a different vocal giving the songs a different texture or feel .

An insiders insight as to how this LP was treated back in 71 goes like this .....

I bought A mint copy of this LP from Adam Kinn 20 years ago .

Adam worked as a sound engineer at RCA from in the early 70s.

Adam is the son of the late Maurice Kinn ( google that name, wow, what this guy did for music....) the Kinns were friendly with everyone from the Rat pack to the Beatles and the Stones and Frank Sinatra and even Elvis...

Adam was the boyfriend of Dana Gillespie (the artist who appears on the flipside of this LP) . When we met , I could have listened to his stories for days . So I got to asking him about this LP . He said he rememberd a stack of them on a desk at RCA of about 50 , and he told me an executive walked into the office , and said , Bin that lot .... So nobody knows how many there are but theres a buch destroyed in one hit !

In the pictures, you can see if you double click an old valuation of this rarety from record collector , £1500 in mint condition,  as all serious collectors know ,  Record Collector is notorious for its undervaluing !

THIS HOWEVER IS NOT MINT .

CONDITION : To be perfectly fair to all bidders ,  I am going to give a track by track description to try to be as honest as possible about the condition of this important Bowie collectable.

Whatever your hopes are this LP will not improove from the time I describe it , untill the time you,  the winner , play it . I intend to decieve NOBODY so DO NOT DECIEVE YOURSELF !

The SLEEVE. A generic plain white Flipback sleeve with the words David Bowie wrote in green felt , the sleeve is a bit grubby .

Labels : Clean , with David Bowie wrote also in green felt pen,  on side b the words are smudged slightly , anyone is welcome to more pictures if required .

The vinyl : Full of hairlines and marks but even so the Bowie side,  ie, side one,  PLAYS ALL THE WAY WITHOUT JUMPS OR SKIPS AND THERE IS NO STICKING WHATSOEVER !

I URGE ALL POTENTIAL BIDDERS TO READ THE FOLLOWING VERY CAREFULLY, IF THIS IS NOT UP TO YOUR STANDARD DO NOT BID !!!!!

TRACK ONE : Oh you pretty things . Very light crackles throughout but overall its acceptable chiefly due to Bowie`s voice being at the top of its form. 7/10

TRACK TWO : Eight line poem. Very loud crackles at the start and getting louder as Bowie`s vocal starts . The cracles die down around the time of the line " mobile spins to its collision"

6/10.

Track three .Kooks . Crackles wich subside completely by the end of the first verse 7/10.

Track four . It aint easy . Slight cracles all the way wich are drowned out during the louder parts of the song 7/10 .

Track five. Queen Bitch . Superb throughout 10/10.

Track six . Quicksand . The odd slight crackle at the start ,This is a particularly highpoint of this set due to Bowies SUPERB and CRYSTAL clear vocal that is a completely different mix to anything available on any other formatt . 9/10

Track seven Bombers . SUPERB throughout 10/10.

Track eight Is just Bowie and Ronson talking and giggling like at the start of Andy Warhol but even that is different to what appears on the Hunky Dory LP ,track plays well .

On the flipside there is a Great Version of Andy Warhol by Dana Gillespie .

I have tried to photograph the matrix word Bowpromo wich is factory stamped , but im no photographer so I dont know how that will turn out .

Conservatively speaking this LP is at very best ...Very Good.

There are two key points to this LP being so highly prised by Bowie collectors . The first is that the sheer rarety of this item is simply innescapable ....Seriously rare to the point that one can almost excuse the items flaws as being outweighed by the simple rarety of the item .

The second reason is , this LP is full of material that dosent appear anywhere . This stuff is on no bootleg so if you want to hear these versions ALL roads lead to the BOWPROMO .

Record colletor states that Englands highest priced record would be The Beatles white album 000001 REGARDLESS OF THE CONDITION ! In the case of the Beatles white album number 1 Record collector is totally disregarding condition .

Of all the rarest of the rare Bowie records this has to be top 5.

When will you ever see another ?

The condition is as described above if you can live with it then get bidding . If your waiting for a mint one to show up you are going to have a long wait and you will certainly need to get the checkbook out ...
