Description
This is an absolutely stunning original copy of the UK Mercury pressing of The Man Who Sold the World with the famous dress cover. This record was bought new in 1971 from a shop in Prudhoe St, Newcastle upon Tyne and is a genuine original item with the textured cover, black labels and machine stamped matrix numbers.
This record has been really well looked after and stored in a plastic cover. The sleeve is in near mint condition and looks really fresh and vibrant. There are no tears or splits anywhere. There are no marks or scuffs or storage wear anywhere on the front or back and only the very very slightest signs of wear on the top edge and corners. The spine is neat and intact and clearly legible and the opening/leading edge is still crisp and neat. Without doubt this is as near mint as you are likely to find. Please look at the photos which will verify that this is IN NEAR PERFECT CONDITION.
The album itself has been well looked after too and handled carefully whenever it has been played. Although it has been played many times there is only a small amount of spindle marking around the central hole, and the album plays through with no clicks, jumps or scratches. This album has never been subjected to any kind of professional cleaning.
If it is held up to the light, there are only a couple of very small visible marks on it but these do not interfere with play at all. It is really remarkably clean and shiny and plays through without interruption. Grading very strictly as this is a very rare item, visually I would grade the vinyl as excellent, and to play I would grade it as very good to excellent. Coupled with the near mint sleeve this is a superb copy.
All in all, this is a stunning copy of one of the most famous collectables, and I am offering it with no reserve. I have seen many copies of this album for sale but don't think any of them come anywhere near the condition of this one. This item is a true gem.
Please feel free to ask any questions.
I am a Bowie fan selling a huge collection which I have accumulated over the years. I grade very carefully and will always try and note any defects in an item description.
Please take a look at my other items.
