Description

David Bowie 'The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust'  original 1st pressing LP

Rare and highly sought after 1st UK '1E' pressing with machine-stamped matrices BGBS0864 1E & BGBS0865 1E on 'thick' vinyl

The sleeve has the Robert Stace credit on the reverse, A Gem Production credit without the lower Mainman credit on the reverse. The first press 'glossy' labels & top lipped lyric inner sleeve have Titanic / Chrysalis music publishing credits.

RCA Victor Records SF 8287 ( LSP 4702 ) BGBS0864/5 in 1972

This is a well cared for and nice clean example .

Vinyl grades visually EX with a couple of slight wispy hairlines/ light marks. It retains a nice gloss and has been looked after and certainly not played to death.

The cover grades EX with very light ringwear

The inner sleeve EX with some mild creasing as in photos.

The labels are clean and shiny EX with virtually no spindle marks.

Vinyl plays very well on my Dual deck. Side 1 intro and the quieter parts of Five Years there is a little crackle here and there, that does not detract from listening pleasure. There is some occasional light crackle between tracks, but generally speaking the listening quality is excellent for this album - especially considering that over the years I have never heard a completely perfect or flawless copy of Ziggy.

Overall a nice example of scarce 1st pressing! Not many first press 1E/1E copies are usually this clean

EX or better 1E/1E copies can go for well over £200 on eBay, so this would be a solid investment

Postage £4.50 1st class 'signed for' UK
