DAVID BOWIE - ZIGGY STARDUST - RYKODISC PROMO PRESS KIT WITH GATEFOLD VINYL & CD
***I would ask those considering buying this Rykodisc promo set to be aware of the following:
The well respected website The Illustrated db Discography and other websites explain the crackle on this vinyl LP is deliberate:
“Ziggy Stardust Press Kit
(Rykodisc RALP-0134-2), 1990 (US)
This press kit features the then newly remastered Ziggy Stardust CD, and an LP that was pressed to sound like your worn copy would after 20 odd years. Some press photos and a biography complete the set, which is one of the most attractive Bowie press kits around”.
Note also the CD has never been removed from the attached wallet . The CDs are often damaged because they stick to plastic sleeve. If necessary,I would suggest that a separate playing copy may be found on eBay.
This is a relatively rare item. The vinyl is supposed to be a ‘faked used’ copy to compare to what was the ‘superior quality’ CD.
You are essentially purchasing a great piece of Bowie memorabilia.
Condition
The gatefold sleeve is in great overall condition. There is a tiny crease to the top right front of gatefold. There is the slightest impression of ringwear to front sleeve only. For completeness, there are light seam splits to bottom and top of front cover. See photos 6 &7. Neither are immediately noticeable.
The LP labels are very clean, very little sign of play.
The vinyl has some short, light hairlines and what appears to be a light scuff on Side Two.
I have played the vinyl through and the only intrusions are the ones in the Illustrated db Discography description above.
The CD has never been removed from its wallet.
The photo card and the three press sheets are in near mint condition.
