On offer in this listing is a very rare first edition copy of DAVID STONE MARTIN: Jazz Graphics by MANEK DAVER, in as new, fine plus condition. The book still contains the Japanese Postcard it was originally issued with! The book as been protected in a Brodart Archival Jacket Cover ever since I obtained it from the author in 1992. Outside of mild shelf wear, the only condition issue of note is the slightest bump on the upper spine of the jacket. Very clean throughout with brilliant color!!

Published in Japan in 1991 by Graphic-sha Publishing Co., Ltd. of Tokyo, this 180-page book celebrates the art of David Stone Martin, through fabulous reproductions of his folk and jazz classic album covers for Stinson, Disc, Asch, Mercury, Clef, Verve, Dial and other vintage labels. Also included are a selection of full-page portraits drawn by DSM of some of the giants of jazz, including Charlie Parker, Count Basie, Bud Powell, Gerry Mulligan, Eric Dolphy, etc., etc.!!

The text is in Japanese and English and needless to say, the quality of the book and the reproductions are simply superb. One of the greatest jazz art books of all time, which was available for only a short period of time in a relatively small print run.
