ESPANA ARGENTA LONDON SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA FIRST PRESSING 1959 SXL 2020 WIDE BAND DEEP GROOVE IN LAMINATED FLIPBACK (BLUE BORDERED) SLEEVE
Sleeve Condition: Almost Near Mint, some glue residue left to bottom flipback on the rear after Sellotape removal. Un-damaged and otherwise in really lovely condition, free from any kind of marking, stickers, writing, creasing or laminate lifting and with only the faintest traces of wear to corners. The original Decca inner sleeve is in similar condition; white, uncreased and free from marking, grubbiness or wear.
Record Condition: Ex++: looks Near Mint and with no visible marks, obviously very little played and I am quite sure most would grad this as Near Mint. There is some, light vinyl background noise, evident in quiter passages. This is not a euphemism for poor aural condition and as a musician, music lover and committed vinyl collector myself I am being super-picky. The record has clearly never been played on the kind of vinyl destroying equipment so ubiquitous in the early ‘60s. Indeed, there is little evidence of play at all with no centring marks around the spindle hole. There is no groove damage and the music is absolutely free from distortion or peaking of any kind throughout both sides. I have played this and listened carefully on my latest spec. Linn LP and EAR amps. It is simply that the vinyl is not always darkly silent in the quiet passages and there is some low grade vinyl crackle. To all intents and purposes, this is an Ex to almost Near Mint record. I use Record Collector Price Guide criteria to grade all my records. I would encourage potential bidders to be familiar with this before bidding.
Overall, the record, sleeve and inner sleeve provide testament to the extraordinary care the previous owner took with their records. It’s the best example of this LP I have seen in decades of collecting and dealing in records. Please note that for items with a final auction price of over £55, I charge an additional £5.25 to UK addresses which includes next day delivery with insurance. Overseas shipping already includes International Signed For delivery or Airsure where available.
I have other deep groove, wide band SXL LPs currently listed.
