Description
DECCA SXL 2239 - "All-Time Popular Favourites" - Knappertsbusch, VPO
Condition vinyl:
NM-/VG+
The vinyl shows some extremely pale and superficial scuffs, probably from contact with the inner sleeve, which are completely inaudible. The record plays close to perfect with just four soft ticks in the "Marche Militaire", that are hardly worth mentioning. The background is very silent and there is absolutely no groove wear. The sound is clear, undistorted and of the highest quality! Still a very fine copy of a rare and sought after record.
Condition cover:
G/G+
The scalloped flipback sleeve is in rather bad condition. As you can see in the scan, there is some brownish discolouration from removed tape on the back. There's also some age yellowing, a tiny bit of writing on the back and very light creasing. The sleeve is complete though and there are no splits or stickers. The front side is unmarked.
Pressing:
UK pressing - grooved wide band label, "ORIGINAL RECORDING BY" at 10 o'clock (ED1) - 2E-2-C/1E-1-M - scalloped flipback sleeve What else:
This is a very rare Decca and one of the very few stereo LPs that feature the baton of the legendary "K", Hans Knappertsbusch. These recordings were made in February 1960 in the famous Sofiensaal in Vienna. This copy is a very early pressing with the first label and a scalloped flipback sleeve. Don't let this one pass you by, it might be some time before you find another copy!
NM (near mint) is my highest grade for a non-sealed record - mint is reserved for sealed copies.
If you'd like to know which 'hardware' is being used to grade my LPs, then have a look here...
I will give a full refund if not satisfied, excluding the postage costs for returning the item. Good luck bidding and please have a look at my other auctions too... All records will be cleaned on a VPI HW-17 record cleaning machine prior to dispatch
