Come Taste the Band is an album by the hard rock band Deep Purple recorded between August 3rd and September 1st, 1975 at Musicland Studios in Munich, Germany. The album was co-produced and engineered by the band and longtime band associate Martin Birch. The album was released in October 1975. It was the only studio album with Tommy Bolin who replaced Ritchie Blackmore on lead guitar. When guitarist Ritchie Blackmore left Deep Purple, many observers and critics assumed that Deep Purple would not continue. It was David Coverdale who asked Jon Lord to keep the band together, and Tommy Bolin was asked to take the guitar slot!!!!.
Musically, the album is far more commercial than previous Deep Purple releases, tending toward a conventional hard rock focus with overtones of soul and funk. The album shows the strong influence of Glenn Hughes on the band at this point, who had formed a bond with the equally commercially-minded Bolin. In general the album is considered one of Deep Purple's lesser efforts, although it did sell reasonably well on release (#19 in the UK charts, and #43 in the US).
After tours for this album, Deep Purple broke up for eight years. In 1976 Tommy Bolin died from a heroin overdose!.
In recent years the album has received some critical reassessment, primarily due to Bolin's contributions to the album!!!

The Vinyl
On visual inspection this vinyl looks absolutely superbe! On initial inspection this vinyl looks like new!! I can hardly see a blemish!!!!!!! This is the original heavier thicker type of vinyl with deeper grooves only found on these original 1st pressings!!! They are also more robust than later pressings which were more flimsier!!!! In strong light could possibly any sleeve removal marks be seen only! Please note! When scrutinised under a strong lamp I can see very (very) few, fine whispy surface marks which have little if (no) effect on the awesome audio that I heard when played at very loud volume on my system! Please note I can't see any needle audio sounding scratches or marks at all! Certainly (no) marks that are audio sounding!
The audio quality
I have played this through track for track as usual and the audio is rated at the top! This is cristal clear and vibrant through out. This plays with no background noise or crackle at all with (no) signs of any distortion or that this has been overplayed what so ever as good as new on my systems absolutely stunning throughout!! I would class myself as highly critacle! Please look at my completed listings of records that i have sold of this calaber and you will see that i normally get it right!!!! Audio is graded at the top!!! You will find the audio quality on this vinyl hard to surpass!!!I grade the audio as Near mint! As good as it gets in my opinion!!!! NEVER NEED TO UPGRADE FROM THIS ALBUM!!!!!!!!
Please note! I always make this disclaimer! Please allow for the odd static crackl\tick (not) consistant throughout the audio! Although i never heard any problems at all and have given my honest opinion, this is a genuine 33 year old vinyl (not a reissue) that would have originally been played on a 33 year old system!!!!
Important points to note! This has been stored in a case laying dormant for the best part of 25 years! A build up of dirt and dust in the grooves over the years causes static crackle and ticks! From my personal experiance a constant clean before each play reduces this problem! and subsequently enhances the audio quality!
