Stunning condition , examined under strong daylight!!!Beautifully maintained laminated gatefold sleeve. Remarkable condition. Complete with the original Harvest advertising inner sleeve, polylining in tact . Awesome presentation of one of the best rock classics of the seventies.

Sleeve

Thickly coated, laminated gatefold sleeve, printed by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd. Confirming THE earliest issue of this very famous album. Hardly any ring wear visible on reverse, none on front cover which is very unusual. Best cover I have had the pleasure to view. Spine near perfect-solid and square. Just a couple of rough edges on spinal column against the fingertips .All corners nice and sharp. NO wear apparent on lower and upper edges. Amazing sleeve. NO peeling or lifting of the laminate. Opening edges have a clean, thin perpendicular cut. Remarkable for a gatefold of this age! Looks almost factory fresh. NO feathering of opening edge and very lightly handled. Nr perfect outer covers with no indentations when angled. Opens to clean inner faces. .Fantastic gatefold-so rare in this condition and is very close to mint. Ultra faint crease on front cover .Ex ++ condition !

Labels

Yellow/green Harvest format. Very early press WITHOUT the EMI box. “The Gram. Co.” label text on outer edge of label. Labels in ex condition showing only a few spindle lines when angled . Confirms a minimal playing history. The labels appear fresh, very clean with no mottling or discoloration. Stunning appearance against the jet black of the vinyl.

Vinyl

Thick, heavyweight press that all record enthusiasts love. Pleasure to hold. Has a sheen , very similar to mint vinyl. Can observe a peppering of very light surface marks when angled against a strong light on Tr1 S1. Does little affect the music presentation of this superb vinyl. NO other surface marks visible. Tremendous visual for a 39 year old vintage rock classic!!Virtually UN marked vinyl surfaces. Stunning mirror like sheen . Unbelievable  !

Audio Sensational .Nothing much to fault !

Throws you into orbit immediately with a fast rock track-Speed King . Tones are crisp and clear, the stereo perspective providing an intricate imagery of one of the best rock ballads ever produced.  A superb aural delivery . At maximum volume, you’ll be at heaven’s gate! Quality is sustained throughout play and is at least an excellent delivery and considerably better in some parts.

The lead into Child In Time is sensational and one of the best I have heard .. A quiet intro with very little surface noise, as the organ keys float crisp and clear into the listener’s ear. Tempo gradually increases to an entourage of one of the best electric guitar bashes ever heard, being accompanied by the classic high pitched wail of Purple’s vocals and a  cascade of thundering percussion beats. Will find difficult to match.

Summary

A UK FIRST press-that extra loud cut that makes all the difference .Not many of these very early issues about, without the EMI box and becoming scarcer and scarcer as each day passes! So much better than the later reissues and SO rare to find a HUGE bestseller very close to MINT condition. Released in 1970 and STILL has that first pressed appearance. Normally, heavily played, used and abused into submission. This record proves to be very special indeed, displaying fresh 1st issue labels, a sensational album sleeve and a vinyl boasting a mirror like sheen, very similar to mint vinyl.

Will never find a better example of one of the best rock classics of all time . A stunning copy .
