Description
From my own personal collection I am pleased to offer an exceptional MINT- example of the brilliant studio album by DEEP PURPLE titled “MACHINE HEAD”, Catalogue Number TPSA 7504. This is an ORIGINAL 1972 UK STEREO 1st PRESSING on the PURPLE RECORD LABEL, with a superb 1st ISSUE GARROD & LOFTHOUSE LTD laminated gatefold sleeve. Complete with the elusive fold-out LYRIC INSERT and the correct white poly-lined inner sleeve. [The record labels have “THE GRAMOPHONE CO LTD…” text around the tops and the matrix numbers are the earliest A-1U, B-1U. The fold-out lyric insert is the correct 1st issue which folds out into 3 sections with only 2 folds – later inserts have 3 folds].
The sleeve is in EX+ condition with barely any wear and only a few tiny hairline creases near the edges. This is a near perfect sleeve which should please even the most discerning collector.
The top quality Purple record is in MINT- condition. It’s a nice mid-weight pressing which sits perfectly flat on the turntable. The labels are like new with only a few short spindle traces near the centres. There is virtually no wear to the spindle hole. The sound quality of the 1U/1U Gramophone Co Ltd labelled 1st pressings is truly exceptional – very powerful and vibrant with impressive bass. Both sides of this cherished vinyl play essentially as new. The audio playback is faultless. Lead-in and linking grooves play with near silence and there is virtually no unwanted noise at all. If you are looking for the very best-playing 1st press copy available – look no further!
The fold-out lyric insert and the white poly-lined inner sleeve are both in unmarked EX condition.
Overall this is a magnificent 1st press copy which will grace any record collection.
GRADINGS
The records that I offer for sale have been critically play-graded, at loud volume, on a Rega P5 turntable fitted with an Elys 2 cartridge. I will only sell records that play to a high standard. My gradings are strict and in accordance with the following descriptions:
· MINT- Record is superb, almost like new, with just a few sleeve removal type surface marks and no deterioration in sound quality. Sleeve is near perfect in all respects.
· EX Record is a top quality example, with just a few very light surface marks which do not sound, and barely any discernable deterioration in sound quality. Sleeve has slight wear and/or creasing.
· VG Record has some visual surface marks, but still plays to a high standard without any major deterioration in sound quality – just a few clicks or light surface sound in places. Sleeve has normal wear and tear without any major defects. Still a very presentable sleeve.
PACKAGING
LPs are packaged with care and well protected to ensure that they arrive safely in the same condition as they leave me. Records are removed from both inner and outer sleeves in order to prevent seam-splits in transit.
