Machine Head is the third Mk II (sixth overall) Deep Purple studio album. It was recorded at the Grand Hotel Montreux, Switzerland in December 1971 with the Rolling Stones Mobile Studio and released in March 1972. The album is often cited as being very influential in the development of the heavy metal music genre. It is Deep Purple's most successful recording, topping the charts in several countries following its release.

The Vinyl

On visual inspection this vinyl looks EXCELLENT! This is the original heavier thicker type of vinyl with deeper grooves only found on these original 1st pressings!!! They are also more robust than later pressings which were more flimsier!!!! In strong light only can very light whispy lines of marks be seen Please note I can't see any needle scratches at all! Certainly no marks that are audio sounding!  I have played this through track for track as usual and the audio is rated at the top! This is cristal clear and vibrant through out. This plays with no background noise or crackle and no signs of distortion or that this has been overplayed.  There is the odd click but nothing to detract from the quality!!!! You will find the audio quality on this vinyl hard to surpass!!!!! NEVER NEED TO UPGRADE FROM THIS ALBUM!!!!!!!!

This features the original purple labels in excellent condition no marks or nasty writing with limited spidering ''made in gt Britain'' text is featured (this is a UK pressing)

The cover.

The condition of this cover is again excellent!!! Fully laminated ''Garrod and Lofthouse'' gatefold cover. Lovely and glossy laminated front (a really good example) with hardly any creases.  Just a few minors around edges.  There is a small scag in fron cover lamination.  There is also a small scag on the back cover which has resulted in a small area of discolouring.  Innner gatefold is in superb condition
