Machine Head is the third Mk II (sixth overall) Deep Purple studio album. It was recorded at the Grand Hotel Montreux, Switzerland in December 1971 with the Rolling Stones Mobile Studio and released in March 1972. The album is often cited as being very influential in the development of the heavy metal music genre. It is Deep Purple's most successful recording, topping the charts in several countries following its release!!

The Vinyl

On visual inspection this vinyl looks absolutely superbe, I can barely see a blemish! This is the original heavier thicker type of vinyl with deeper grooves only found on these original 1st pressings!!! They are also more robust than later pressings which were more flimsier!!!! In strong light only could possibly any very light whispy surface marks\scuffs be seen would be caused by sleeve removal Please note I can't see any audio sounding marks or needle scratches at all! Cesrtainly (no) marks that are audio sounding! 

The Audio Quality

 I have played this through track for track as usual on a top system at loud volume. The audio is rated at the very top! This is cristal clear and vibrant through out. (NO) CLICKS OR POPS AND CERTAINLY (NO) JUMPS OR SKIPS!! This plays truly awesome throughout!, with (no) signs of any distortion or that this has been overplayed!!!! I would class myself as highly critacle! Please look at my completed listings of records that i have sold of this calaber and you will see that i normally get it right!!!! Audio is graded at the top!!! You will find the audio quality on this vinyl hard to surpass!! One of the best that I have heard absolutely stunning and very vibrant without any distortion a real raunchy deep basey feel!!The audio is as good as it gets on vinyl in my personal opinion! Audio graded as near mint!

Please note! I always make this disclaimer! Please allow for the odd static crackle (not) consistant throughout the audio! Perhapes only heard in some quiet places! Although i never heard any problems at all and have given my honest opinion, this is a genuine 35 year old vinyl (not a reissue) that would have originally been played on a 35 year old system!!!!

Please note! This has been stored in a case for at least 25 years! Any static crackle that might be heard during some quiet parts could be minimised by constant cleaning before each play in my experiance!, Build up of dust and dirt that has accumilated over the years of the vinyl being stored laying dormant causes most of this problem so please allow for some light static crackle as  previously mentioned!!!!! I would class myself as highly critical ! Please look at my completed listings of records that I have sold of this calaber and you will see that I normally get it right!!!!!!

The Labels

This features the original purple labels in superbe condition (no) marks or nasty writing with very limited spidering which indicates this has definately not been over played (very rare for a 1st pressing) ''made in gt Britain'' text is featured (this is a UK pressing)

The cover.

The condition of this cover is almost pristine and looks like new!!! Fully laminated SUPER GLOSSY FINISH ! ''Garrod and Lofthouse'' gatefold cover. Lovely and glossy laminated front (one of the best that i have seen)has the lightest laminate scuff bottom edge on the front, with hardly any creases to talk of (In fact there are no creases larger than 1cm) and little if (no) storageware absolutely superbe throughout!!!!!! Try to find better!!!!!!
