DEEP PURPLE - deep purple in rock

Very rare and hard to find album manufactured in Japan by Warner Bros-Pioneer, Corp.

This is the spring '71 first press which were released in conjunction with the Rock Age campaign initiated by the new record company Warner Bros-Pioneer, Corp. This campaign started in May and lasted until August~September 1971 and included releases from top-acts like Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, ELP, Yes, Rolling Stones, etc etc. A special die-cut obi with a Rock Age logo were attached to some of the releases while others came with the regular obi and had a Rock Age logo sticker pasted over the record company logo on top of the obi, see the pic. Why did some releases have the special die-cut obi while others didn't? Well, I really don't know. I guess one possible explanation might be that they simply ran out of the special obi and had to use the regular one! Remember, this campaign was quite limited and the record company may have underestimated the demand! Or, the campaign may have lasted longer than originally planned!

Sleeve : glossy gatefold sleeve with Rock Age obi, special inner Rock Age factory bag and inner plastic bag, no insert was issued as all lyrics were printed inside the gatefold

CONDITION :

 - sleeve : EX- (some minor edge and corner wear, some general handling wear as well, great looking sleeve!)

- obi / inner factory bag : EX / EX- (some paper discoloration and creases)

- vinyl : VG+ (many surface hairlines and scuffs - one or two minor non-audible scratches as well, still very glossy looking vinyl surfaces, will play with moderate background noise)

- labels : EX (many lines around the spindle hole are visual under a bright light, otherwise clean labels!)

My grading is based on Record Collector's grading system and all my records are visually graded. If you for any reason disagree with my grading please let me know. Don't give me a lower rating without giving me the chance to sort it out!

Standard mail to other parts of the world : $25.00

My shipping rates cover packages with total weight up to 1000 grams. Normally this will make it possible to ship up to 2~3 LPs (non-gatefold sleeves) without higher costs. I do combine shipping and multiple winning bidders will always be offered the best price. Packages with total value more than USD200 will be shipped with Priority Parcel service which includes tracking & insurance. Too much charged shipping will always be refunded. I don't profit on shipping costs!
