With a panache, verve, and honesty rivaling Toscanini, here Ference Fricsay takes the Berlin Philharmonic through the paces of Beethoven’s SYMPHONY No. 9.

Grand soloist support comes from Irmgard Seefried, Maureen Forrester, Ernst Haefliger, and Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, in one of the finest DGG presentations on vinyl, renowned for its clarity and dynamics.  (Fricsay himself was a student of the "recording arts," as he put it.)



Among the rarest releases in the DGG catalog: Here in its deluxe box, which has minor staining in the textured cloth on front (see cover photo).  All materials within are fine, and both “alle” Tulips pancake platters inside should play near mint.  (Note one vinyl nib on side 2.)

An extremely rare boxed set, worthy of the finest vinyl library.

Shipping and handling is $5 for up to 5 LPs shipped within the States. Internationally, $14 via airmail for the first LP, $4 each thereafter. (Canada is half that.) Boxes over 4 lbs., add another $6, because First Class is no longer available at that weight, just Priority Mail. Note, too, boxed sets of LPs require more postage.
