Description
This is an auction for a rare LP, Delibes, Coppelia, Ansermet, Suisse Romande Orchestra.
This was released by Decca Records in 1959 and has catalogue number SXL 2084-5. This is the 1st pressing with a black label and silver lettering. A deep circular groove runs around the label. The words 'Original Recording By The Decca Co Ltd London' are printed around the top half of the label. The Decca logo, also in silver, is printed in large letters, with the FFSS circular logo printed above the words 'Full Frequency Stereophonic Sound' which runs across a 1cm silver band that runs the width of the label. This label is sometimes referred to as 'EDI' (English Decca 1st Label) or can be referred to as 'WBg' (Wide Band grooved). This is of course Stereophonic.
The following is pictured on supersize below for complete clarification on condition.
Condition: The top opening gatefold sleeve has a few faults. There was a strip of tape around the three open edges which I have removed. The little still attatched pictured below I have also now removed leaving a mark on both front and rear edge. There are no tears along these edges with the tape coming of cleanly. The spine and edges have some scuffing, the pages have a little edge yellowing and a discrett pen mark to the rear page edge. Lastly the rear top edge has some lamination peeling. This is complete with no tears or creases, the pages are fine and attactched well. This sleeve is graded at VG.
This comes with its original 2' inner sleeves which have a pencil mark in the top right corner and a couple of finger marks but are otherwise fine.
Labels: All labels are pictured below on supersize. As you will see these are in superb condition having a few spider spindle trails only on each side. The centre hole is near perfect and shows little to no signs of wear, again please check the pictures for clarification.
Vinyl: Appearance - All sides maintain there brand new rainbow shine. One scuff mark can be seen on side one in normal light. When tilted under a very strong light a few tiny feather scratches and the odd faint mark can be seen. All of the above are completely non-audible.
I have play tested this record and can happily report the sound quality is fantastic. Other than a few very quiet crackles/pops heard this played superbly well. Lovely clean breaks and entries, the music itself plays strong with no distortion, fading or dragging heard whatsoever. The above mentioned feckling is only heard a few times, is very quiet and only heard at the records quietest moments. This record plays with very little lessening, in some places, to no lessening in sound quality for a large majority of both records. This is as a superb edition to any collection.
This record is graded at Near Mint.
A superb collectable.
