-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

DEPECHE MODE - "The Flexis"...

(Black Monument Association) gekauft habe.

Ein Set besteht aus 15 Karten mit den Songs: BLACK CELEBRATION; BLASPHEMOUS RUMOURS; DREAMING OF ME; EVERYTHING COUNTS; GET THE BALANCE RIGHT; IT´S CALLED A HEART; JUST CAN´T GET ENOUGH LEAVE IN SILNCE; LOVE IN ITSELF; MASTER AND SERVANT; NEW LIFE; PEOPLE ARE PEOPLE; SEE YOU und STRIPPED: Es ist uns gelungen, 2 komplette Set zu ersteigern - sie sind sehr teuer, weshalb wir leider nicht mehr besorgen konnten.

VIEL SPASS BEIM BIETEN !

Welcome to my auction of Depeche Mode rarities which will be sold here over the next couple of weeks...... ;-)

DEPECHE MODE - "The Flexis"

This is a Set of 15 Flexi-Postcards, I bought from the "rarities"-Service of the Black Monument Association (the official Swiss Depeche Mode Fanclub) in 1988.
Here is an excerpt from the BMA - "Newsflash" (8/88) about the release (translated from german):

We finally managed to get more details about the possibly most interesting DEPECHE - rarity on the global market: The 15-Flexi-Postcard-Set from Poland. It´s not really Flexis, but rather plastic squares that spiral grooves have been cut into, that can be played on any record player. A total of only max. 70 Sets of these postcards exist. One set comprises 15 cards with the songs: BLACK CELEBRATION; BLASPHEMOUS RUMOURS; DREAMING OF ME; EVERYTHING COUNTS; GET THE BALANCE RIGHT; IT´S CALLED A HEART; JUST CAN´T GET ENOUGH LEAVE IN SILNCE; LOVE IN ITSELF; MASTER AND SERVANT; NEW LIFE; PEOPLE ARE PEOPLE; SEE YOU and STRIPPED:
We managed to get 2 complete sets - they are very expensive, which is why we could not obtain more. So 2 Sets on offer here in the "rarities" - only for the most serious collectors among you ! These postcards were released by the polish state-run record company TONPRESS for promotional and presentational purposes. They were mostly handed out to high guests or other record companies as gifts and only make their way through intricate paths into trade. Sets exist from different groups like DEEP PURPLE, DIRE STRAITS, GENESIS, PINK FLOYD, WHITESNAKE, KATE BUSH, etc.
Early sets from ABBA and alike reach high prices in the thousands of Deutsch Marks on record fairs these days."

The "rarities"-Service of the B.M.A. could only be called at a set date and time and since they only had limited stock one had to be lucky to get through before everything was sold out...
I was lucky back then and bought one of the Flexi-Sets for 370,-DM - that was a lot of money for me back then, but I could not resist.... It has been in my collection since then.
I only put one Flexi on my record player out of curiosity and have to say that the sound quality was really poor !
However since it only includes the regular versions and is such a valuable collectable it is not meant to be played anyway, so I did not care.
It has been savely stored in my collection ever since.

All flexis come in white paper sleeves.

The winner of this auction will also get copies of the "newsflash" article about the flexis and the "rarities" price list 8/88 of the Black Monument Association advertising the flexis.

I let go of some pieces of my collection - a rare opportunity to some real rarities in excellent condition.
International bidders welcome - I will offer paypal and combine shipping !

GOOD LUCK !
