Depeche Mode : Music For The Masses A1 / B1 1st MPO Press 1987

This first pressing plays to a very high standard with only a little interference on one track as described below.  Aside from that the clarity, depth and warmth of the audio is superb.  As always I have listened to every track in full so as to provide the 'complete' grade.  A very impressive album!

The textured cover is in excellent condition with only minimal wear and the lyric inner just has some ringwear.

Visual description

This vinyl is in very good condition but has no obvious marks or scratches.  Under a bright light I can see some faint hairlines and a little mottling but this is purely superficial as it has barely any affect on the audio.  The labels are very clean with just some spindle wear.

Play grading

The classic 'Never Let Me Down Again' plays with stunning precision with no sign of any interference.  The clarity and definition of the audio is first class and Mint is very much deserved.

'The Things You Said' has a small number of light ticks on the intro which are slightly louder just before the first vocal.  There are also three clicks just after the first vocal but from then on it plays perfectly.  I will grade the opening section as VG and the rest as Mint

'Strangelove' again plays with superb sonic quality and the only background is a couple of minor statics on the fade out. Mint-

The intro on 'Sacred' has only very minimal static for 3/4 seconds and then plays with stunning audio from then onwards.  No ticks, clicks, pops or static.  The intro is Ex but the rest is easily Mint

'Little 15' ends the side with superb audio from start to finish.  All I heard were a couple of barely audible statics and Mint- is a fair assessment of the audio.

'Behind The Wheel' plays with phenomenal quality through every vocal and instrumental section.  Incredible depth and power and it just could not play any better.  Mint

'I Want You Now' again plays with impeccable quality with only a couple of mega quiet statics.  Mint-

The intro on on 'To Have And To Hold' has only a handful of minor statics, totally non-intrusive and hardly worth a mention.  The opening vocal section is perfect and it continues in the same way with no interference although there are 3/4 light ticks on the final 'note'.  Let's say Near Mint-

'Nothing' is superb!  It plays 'as new' with no sign of any background.  Mint

The intro on on 'Pimpf' has a small number of very quiet statics and then plays so clearly with only a couple of minor ticks.  This does not qualify as interference!  I just mention any background even if very quiet and non-intrusive!  The 'vocal section' is perfect and plays with tremendous power and depth.  The few seconds of silence has a little static and then the final section plays very clearly with no intrusion.  This track grades as Near Mint

The Cover & Lyric Inner

The textured cover is in excellent condition with only minimal wear.  The edges and spine are very clean and the only corner with some wear is the one bottom right, a little rubbing and a very small split no more.  The opening edge has barely any handling wear, just a little 'crimping' top and bottom.  The front cover is in great condition with only a small sticker removal mark that could be removed maybe and the back cover is very clean indeed.  A fine example overall.

The lyric inner has only a little ringwear and and one very faint mark and remains in excellent shape with no side splits or creasing.

Play tested on my Rega P2 with AT-VM95EN Cart / Denon PMA-520AE Amp / B&W 684 Speakers

I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping.  This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage.  The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered.  Any over-payment will always be refunded.

The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD).  An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known.  Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing.  Please wait for the invoice before making payment and if you have any questions please feel free to ask.  Many thanks.

All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection.  They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection.  I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.

The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each.  There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up!  Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
