A TREMENDOUS ALBUM AND IN MY OPINION ERIC CLAPTON'S FINEST PIECE OF WORK - ONE OF MY ALL TIME PERSONAL FAVOURITES AND VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

PRESSED WITH THE FIRST RED POLYDOR LABELS WITH "MADE IN ENGLAND" TEXT
THE LPs ARE HOUSED IN THE ORIGINAL ISSUE, MATTE GATEFOLD SLEEVE "Printed and made by MacNeill Press Ltd., London, S.E.1"
COMPLETE WITH THE 2 ORIGINAL POLY LINED, POLYDOR COMPANY INNER SLEEVES

MATRICES:

2335010 A//1 ? 420 1 3 1 1 / 2335010 B//2 ? 420 1 5 1 (Record Two)

AN ABSOLUTELY STUNNING COPY AND A FINER ONE WOULD BE VERY HARD TO LOCATE INDEED - ONE OF THE FINEST I HAVE SEEN IN QUITE A WHILE

Wishing to escape the superstar expectations that sank Blind Faith before it was launched, Eric Clapton retreated with several sidemen from Delaney & Bonnie to record the material that would form Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs. From these meager beginnings grew his greatest album.
Duane Allman joined the band shortly after recording began, and his spectacular slide guitar pushed Clapton to new heights. Then again, Clapton may have gotten there without him, considering the emotional turmoil he was in during the recording. He was in hopeless, unrequited love with Patti Boyd, the wife of his best friend, George Harrison, and that pain surges throughout Layla. - "Have you ever loved a woman so much you tremble in pain? And all the time you know she bears another mans name." (Have You Ever Loved A Woman)
But what really makes Layla such a powerful record is that Clapton, ignoring the traditions that occasionally painted him into a corner, simply tears through these songs with burning, intense emotion.
He makes standards like "Have You Ever Loved a Woman" and "Nobody Knows You (When You're Down and Out)" into his own, while his collaborations with Bobby Whitlock -- including "Any Day" and "Why Does Love Got to Be So Sad?" -- teem with passion. And, considering what a personal album Layla is, it's somewhat ironic that the lovely coda "Thorn Tree in the Garden" is a solo performance by Whitlock, and that the song sums up the entire album as well as "Layla" itself

SIDE 1: I Looked Away / Bell Bottom Blues / Keep On Growing / Nobody Knows You When You're Down And Out
SIDE 2: I Am Yours / Anyday / Key To The Highway
SIDE 3: Tell The Truth / Why Does Love Got To be So Sad? / Have You Ever Loved A Woman
SIDE 4: Little Wing / It's Too late / Layla / Thorn Tree In The Garden

LABELS: The labels are CLEAN and BRIGHT with NO wear, NO writing and NO evident spindles. Both spindle holes are still quite tight and I would guess that this copy has been played once or twice AT MOST
VINYL Visual: Both records lies perfectly flat on the turntable and ALL the surfaces have their original DEEP, LIKE-NEW, GLOSSY SHEEN. 2 BEAUTIFUL RECORDS
VINYL Audio: OUTSTANDING audio delivery - CRYSTAL CLEAR, RICH, WARM and VIBRANT. There are NO scratches, NO sticks/jumps, NO clicks/pops. BEAUTIFUL, PRACTICALLY AS-NEW COPY which plays to an extremely high standard with NO groove-wear and NO distortion. Must grade a MINT(-) for audio. NOT over-graded in ANY way as I use STRICT RECORD COLLECTOR grading standards (please refer to my feedback and 'about me' page). TREMENDOUS LP
SLEEVE: The original 1st press matte gatefold cover is in EXCELLENT+ condition. CLEAN and BRIGHT with very light storage wear to the top and bottom edges and a beautiful CLEAN, CLEAR spine. There is a very, very light touch of 'ring' to the back but its very minor and this is one of the finest examples of this easily worn sleeve (being untreated) I have seen in a while
Both of the original poly-lined Polydor company inner sleeves are also in beautiful condition - CLEAN and WHITE with NO splits
