Description

Hi!  You're looking at an AMAZING vintage vinyl find--this is a superb, NEAR MINT 3 LP Box set with possibly UNPLAYED vinyl that's an ORIGINAL GERMAN PRESSING on the Deutsche Grammophon Gesellschaft (DGG) LARGE TULIP label!!  The 3 records bear the serial numbers 139 270, 139 271, and 139 272, and are STEREO LPs.  This is a fantastic recording of six compositions that are the ultimate display pieces for any great violinist--the COMPLETE Violin Sonatas and Partitas by JOHANN SEBASTIAN BACH, BWV 1001 through 1006.  The violinist featured here is HENRYK SZERYING, one of the greatest artists on his instrument of the 20th Century.  Szerying is ideally suited for a recording of this nature, for he often acknowledged that he considered the solo violin sonatas or Bach to be the summit of achievement in the entire realm of music.  As a consequence of this, Szeryng's performances display a deep musical and emotional empathy with Bach's idiom--he is able to combine crystalline clarity with both immaculately beautiful tone and regularity of tempo that are evidence of Szeryng's long study and deep understanding of Bach's music.  This beautiful set comes in a clothbound box and also includes a book that includes a complete biography of Szeryng, biographical and musical analysis of the Sonatas and Partitas by GUNTER KLEINEN, and copies of the original manuscript pages of the works.  This is an amazing find and one of the most sought after of all classical records--it's a rare opportunity to own a RARE and ORIGINAL GERMAN PRESSING of a true masterpiece of recorded violin music!!

This set is in superb condition--the vinyl, box, and book are all in NEAR MINT condition!!  The vinyl is almost certainly UNPLAYED, with NO spindle marks, scratches, or scuffs visible or that will affect play, and just one VERY light factory scuff near the end of the first side that does not produce any noise.  The book is also NEAR MINT and in perfect condition, as is the box, which has NO tears, markings, corner dings, or shelfwear, and just a very light crease on the right side of the front paper that is not noticeable.  This is  the nicest copy of this classic set that you're likely to see--a true treasure!!

Thanks very much for looking, and good luck if you're bidding!  Also be sure to check out all of my other great vintage classical vinyl currently listed on ebay auctions, including DGG Box sets of the Complete Nine Symphonies of BEETHOVEN as performed by KARL BOHM and the Wiener Philharmoniker, the Complete Four Symphonies of BRAHMS as performed by Claudio Abbado, and the Complete Masses of Beethoven by Herbert von Karajan and Karl Richter--I can combine shipping for multiple purchases!  Also please note that insurance is REQUIRED for this item (see shipping details).
