 This album is one of my all time hard prog faves. From the Elric inspired cover, the amazing voice of Sean Harris, Brian Tatler's inspired guitar playing and most of all...the songs, this hits the mark in so many ways. Many say that Diamond Head's first album was their best and often overlook the other 2 they released. This was Diamond Head exploring more progressive terrain after their thrash debut. The first track says it all really..."In the Heat of the Night", is a creeping crawling masterpiece following the journey of the warrior as he comes up to the tower-"Before long, behind adamantine doors, I taste of the wine of their joy. Through delirium of a tortured mind Her face gave me strength to this day"-cool lyrics, cool song. 

Diamond Head are never given enough credit for their lyrics and the athmosphere they created in their music. Complex music met often fantastical lyrics to sweep one away to times unknown, places lost in the mists of time. Living on Borrowed Time is another example of this dreamscape and who could forget the mighty "Am I Evil?" All this, and yet the band had the ability to switch path and pen a Zeppelin inspired masterpiece in "Don't You Ever Leave Me", conjuring up thoughts of classics such "Dazed and Confused/Babe I'm Gonna Leave You". And here is where we find the crux of the problem concerning Diamond Head's legacy. Diamond Head were too ambitious to be confined by the limitations of genre and style. They wanted to explore their music and this was probably too much for die-hard headbangers. The next album "Canterbury" is a testament to that...again a classic though scorned by those Metal heads who feel it is not metal enough. Forget them because otherwise you're missing out. Allow yourself the time and open your mind to one of the best bands who carried the torch first lit by bands such as Zeppelin and Deep Purple, you won't regret it!

On offer here is a VERY rare LP (especially in this condition!!!!) by DIAMOND HEAD an ORIGINAL 1982 UK 1st Pressing on the 1st MCA label!!!! THIS LP IS SERIOUSLY RARE AND VIRTUALLY NEVER TURNS UP FOR SALE!!!! JUST TRY AND FIND ANOTHER ONE!!!! BACK IN 1982 WHEN THIS LP WAS FIRST RELEASED - IT ONLY EVER SOLD IN ABSOLUTELY TINY AMOUNTS, AND WAS ALMOST IMMEDIATELY DELETED!!!! AS A RESULT IT IS SERIOUSLY RARE, AND INCREDIBLY HARD TO LOCATE TODAY!!!! - AND HAS ONLY BEEN LIGHTLY PLAYED, THREE SPINS AT MOST TAKE A LOOK AT THE PICTURES!!!! THIS IS THE ORIGINAL 1982 UK 1ST PRESSING !!!! THIS LP IS SERIOUSLY RARE AND VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND LIKE THIS - SO DONT MISS OUT ON THIS AMAZING OPPORTUNITY!!!! 

The disc is in EX condition. Pristine, deep-gloss surface, with just one tiny wispy hairline on side B. Careful inspection in strong daylight reveals that there is absolutely nothing untoward on this nearly perfect vinyl. Probably barely played!!!  As such this is the ultimate upgrade copy, for vinyl as well as the outstanding quality sleeve.

The absolute rarity of this album is not to be underestimated. It hardly ever surfaces nowadays.  The feel of it is very solid.  This has a lovely deep glossy sheen!! Hauntingly beautiful songcraft!!! Immense quality prog metal album that ticks all the right boxes and incredibly hard to find. I have twenty five years experience in grading. It doesn't get much better than this!!

Vinyl: EX++ .   I first played for a general listen and a second time for a more detailed observation. I have played it on my very revealing Linn/Sondek/B&W/Rotel set-up and it sounded fabulous. An absolute keeper piece. Fantastic songcraft!! A personal favourite of mine, just listen to the title track alone, and I am very glad to be able to report that this is a fine slab of vinyl without any problems at all and as such worthy of inclusion of any great prog collection. This will be an ultimate upgrade version for most collectors.  Outstanding audio delivery in all respects with a crystal clear, deep, rich, warm and detailed sound and on playback at a loud volume (which is how I always listen to my LPs prior to listing and it's always an immense pleasure to return to this one) there is barely any surface noise. This is a beautifully clean pressing (and I must emphasise again how difficult it is to find a copy which plays this well). The whole LP sounds absolutely great and plays to a high standard with superb clarity, just one tiny hairline on side B which is non-sounding and just a wispy one - great upgrade copy!! Of course, NO skips, NO jumps, NO sticks etc.

Gatefold Sleeve: EX.  A gorgeous gatefold sleeve without any creases or writing.  The spine is 100% intact without wear. The top and bottom edges are really nice with only very minimal storage wear. There is no writing or damage or anything else untoward. The inside gatefold is likewise fantastic with all credits. The opening is super crisp. Just ultra light storage wear on the top and bottom edges. On the back gate to the top about 1 cm worn through. It is simply a beautiful keeper copy for this magnificent album!!! An LP that is rarely ever seen these days and possibly one of the last ever opportunities to achieve a copy in this great condition.  The colours are just gorgeous!

This has the original inner lyric sleeve with just a small bit of tape on one side.
