Early 60’s British jazz LP in stunning condition! Original UK 1961 MONO LP on the black and silver Fontana label (Fontana TFL 5149).
Price starts at 99p and has no reserve .......
Dick Morrissey (tenor) leads a quartet including Malcolm Cecil (bass), Stan Jones (piano), Colin Barnes (drums). Cecil was the man behind Tonto's Expanding Headband and the classic Stevie Wonder albums of the eraly 70s. Twelve superb cuts here, including a cover of Sonny Rollins' 'St. Thomas'.
I've made a very cautious assessment of this LP which has informed the detailed description below
Vinyl: NM Vinyl retains superb lustre. A clear MINT grade, but a small mark at the very start of B5 (willow weep for me). Following a careful assessment of the intro of this track, I can report that there are perhaps two or three very feintly audible noises during the first 30 seconds of 'willow weep for me', nothing that disrupts the considerable listening experience of the track. The rest of the LP playgrades flawlessly. Overall, play grade is a strong MINT with full clean sound throughout! .....you'd be hard pressed to find a better copy!
Super clean labels with no spindle trails (see photos).
Sleeve: EX+ No seam splits or writing visible. Minor corner bend on the bottom right of the sleeve. On the reverse there is the very beginning of ringwear, really nothing serious though. Overall, the high gloss heavy cardboard laminate sleeve is in great condition - (see photos)
