Up for auction is what has probably become one of the most sought-after Beatles LPs in recent years--the German HorZu "Die Beatles" album, which is their version of the Beatles' classic UK first, "Please Please Me." Most pressings of this album--all, in fact--have been fiddled with to death, drenched with echo, and audiophiles agree that this is perhaps the last vestige of the original sound The Beatles wanted. Why this is so, I'm not so sure, but this thing blows the roof off! Make no mistake, I've done my homework, and don't be fooled, because just because something is a German HorZu "Die Beatles" doesn't mean it's the one; this one, however, is: the matrix numbers are SHZE 117-A-2 and SHZE 117-B-2. These are the pressing numbers that confirm this is the sought-after pressing.
You will not be disappointed with the condition of this album, either. The LP I rate Near Mint Minus (NM-). There are a few hairline scratches on either side, but I'm telling you, you have to squint to see them. I mention it because no record, especially one of this vintage, is perfect. Both sides retain their original sheen, and are very glossy. The labels are fantastic, with almost zero spindle-wear and no markings. The jacket of this record is also fantastic, and I rate this a strong Very Good Plus (VG+). There are a few minor creases and it suffers from a little edgewear at its opening. There are no pen marks, tears, or stains, however, of any kind; it's really in great shape. The spine is not splitting in any way. There is also some minor cornerwear. I've played this record and it is very quiet--no skips, no jumps, or anything like that. You won't be disappointed in the way this thing plays and sounds.
Overall, a fine package, and one you will be hard-pressed to top. All the pictures you see are of the actual item and were taken just moments ago.
