Title: Dieter Reith - Open Drive

Original German stereo first pressing from 1969 on the deep-grooved yellow CENTER label,17027.This is a sub-label of MPS records.

Line-up:Dieter Reith /organ-Heinz Kitschenberg /guitar-Eberhard Weber /bass-Roland Wittich /drums.

Tracks: Sister Sadie - Follow Me - Terrace Theme - Open Drive - Second Hand Whistler - Halogen.

D.Reith is having fun driving his Porsche cabriolet as shown on the front-cover,and his “Combo”(as it’s called on the back and the label) also seems to enjoy this funky hammond date,most of the tunes are cool souljazz/raregroove with a slight bop-edge on some tracks.”Sister Sadie” is a Horace Silver classic,”Terrace Theme” by bass-player Joe Benjamin has been featured on Kenny Burrell’s 1964 VERVE album ”Guitar Forms”,the other 4 tracks are by Reith or Kitschenberger.Some tracks also have amazing intros before starting to groove:”Second Hand Whistler” reminds of Roland Kirk’s “Serenade To A Cuckoo” or his “I Talk With the Spirits” from the album of the same name;”Halogen” starts with a spiritual/”free” part.Rare,highly recommended record!

Condition:the record looks and plays in mint-.The cover has a laminated front and a matt back,it shows only slightest shelfwear,the seams/spine are perfect,mint-.

I got this LP from a journalist’s archive,there is a very small archive-sticker with a printed number inside the cover,where the record is stored,it is not visible from the outside.

Grading:this used record has been cleaned on a prof. cleaning machine.After that I playgraded it on a Rega Planar 9 with a EINSTEIN TU-3 Super Fine Line moving coil cartridge (please consider that the playback might differ a bit depending on your own equipment).I also visually graded the record under a strong light.I give you a detailed description of both gradings.Only an unplayed record is mint,the highest grading for a used record is mint-! My basic gradings are:mint-ex-vg.As a free service,cleaned records are stored in a brandnew deluxe innersleeve and the cover will be placed in a brandnew PVC protection-sleeve!
