Dire Straits – “Brothers in Arms”
Original 1985 US Pressing
Original Catalog Number: 1-25264
Early 1st Pressing featuring the work of legendary mastering engineer Robert "Bob" Ludwig, as indicated by the inscription "MASTERDISK RL" in the runouts on both sides!
We do not exaggerate in calling Mr. Ludwig our favorite mastering engineer. He's able to make an album sound both powerful AND clear, which is something far easier said than done (especially in this present era of digital "brickwalling"). The bass tones are heavy, yet retain all of their musical qualities. The high notes pop without being shrill. Dynamics are dramatic, and channel seperation is striking. All sounds possess great texture and dimension. In short, Ludwig brings out all the characteristics unique to the vinyl LP format and out of the reach of any digital imitator!
CONDITION OF THE ALBUM:
We grade the disc as Near Mint (NM).
It retains its full original gloss, and we conservatively estimate it to have been played once!
Like all Near Mint LPs, it appears to be perfect in normal light, while strong and direct light reveals only a few very faint sleeve brushes, which will be completely inaudible, and which do little to detract from the visual beauty of the vinyl!
This disc has received a deep-groove cleaning via the Spin-Clean Record Washer, so as to remove all the dust and grime which has built up over the past 40 years, thereby ensuring the best sound reproduction possible! It will be placed in a new, acid-free, poly-lined inner sleeve, and handled with latex gloves at all points in the process (to prevent nasty fingerprints).We grade the jacket as Excellent (EX).
We have noted the following imperfections:
*Some subtle fading is evident on the front.
*A short, light crease appears here and there.
We encourage you to study all of our photos thoroughly for the best idea of the jacket’s condition (although we admit that this jacket is, for some strange reason, hard to photograph).
The jacket will be placed in a new plastic outer sleeve.
The original liner is included, and graded Excellent (EX).
It remains incredibly crisp with vibrant colors, and its lone flaw is an incredibly inconspicuous 0.75" split centered on the bottom seam, which does little to diminish the liner's overall beauty.

For international buyers, if this album is to be insured then Priority Mail International must be the service selected (USPS doesn't allow insurance on packages sent First Class Mail International.) If you do not wish to pay more for Priority Mail International, and instead wish to stick with First Class International, you may, but you will forfeit insurance as a consequence.
Our grading system pretty much follows the Goldmine Magazine format, and is as follows:
Mint (M), Near Mint (NM), Excellent (EX), Very Good Plus (VG+), Very Good (VG), Good (G+), Good (G), Fair (F), and Poor (P).
Although thorough grade explanations are best left for specific item descriptions, we will endeavor to say that: M is pretty much left for the discs of sealed records (and SOMETIMES the jackets of sealed records); NM and EX are in the “Wow, what a beauty!/archive piece” range; VG+ and VG are in the “That’s pretty nice” range; G+ and G are in the “eh, it’s okay” range, and F and P are in the “trashed” range.
All records are shipped in genuine cardboard record mailers. The disc will be placed in a new liner and packaged outside the jacket (but within the plastic outer sleeve) so as to prevent splits. Original liners (if included) will be kept inside the jackets, as will any inserts. The album will be surrounded by three sheets of 12” by 12” bubble wrap (two sheets over the disc). Shipping info is always typed up and printed out – we don’t take chances with shoddy, hand-written addresses! The box will be sealed with and the address sheet will be affixed by lots of Scotch Heavy Duty Shipping Tape.
