PERCEPTIONS - DIZZY GILLESPIE playing with 21 piece orchestra conducted by GUNTHER SCHULLER. Original music all arranged and composed by J.J. JOHNSON. See photo's for complete list of orchestra members. The music on this album defies definition - Obviously, apart from Schuller and a few orchestra members - these are Jazz artists. Yet the mood is classical.
A rare piece of Jazz History.
Beautiful Gatefold album. Some ring wear (very typical) and the name BIL written in a white area on back.
Vinyl is VERY LOW PLAY TIME - maybe 3-4 times in it's 50+ year life. It really makes a difference when a record has little play time. Vinyl grooves can wear down and diminish sound quality. Entire album just completely played recently and it sounds perfect.
