'Doc' Cook was actually Charles L. Cooke and actually DID hold a Ph.D., from the Chicago College of Music. He was based in Chicago where he led the group at Paddy Harmon's Dreamland Ballroom. There were many different names for his groups, he was at one time leading Cookie's Gingersnaps, and on this recording is as Doc Cook and his 14 Doctors of Syncopation

On this recording you'll hear George Mitchell, Elwood Graham, Bill Dawson, Billy Butler, Joe Poston, Johnny St. Cyr, Sterling Todd, Bill Newton, and Andrew Hilaire.

The songs are “Hum And Strum (Do, Do, Do, That’s What I Do),” and “I Got Worry.” Both are from a session on March 30, 1928. That’s Andrew Hilaire on the vocals.
