Description
For auction is DON ELLIS' "New Ideas," on New Jazz NJ-8257, MONO, DG, RVG, 1961. With Ron Carter, Charlie Persip, others.
SOUND: VG+
It has been machine-cleaned and I listened to both sides completely. There's a bit of light surface noise throughout, only noticeable during quiet passages. Not distracting at all, and the overall playback is excellent.
VINYL: VG/VG+
There is a hairline mark on side A which is not feel-able. Other than that, faint scuffs either side that appear completely superficial. "RVG" stamps in dead wax on both sides. The purple New Jazz labels have deep grooves and are in good shape, except for a hole punched through the label (and jacket.)
JACKET: VG
The jacket has the hole-punch, as I mentioned above. It's right above Don's eyebrow. The top center edge is split about 5 inches. Spine and bottom edge are in nice shape. The corners are a little bit frayed. Both the front and back covers are in very nice condition, clean and unmarked, except for a "promo" stamp on the back.
The photos are of the exact record up for bids. Look before you bid, ask if you want any additional info or pics.
An aptly-named record! Very unique and cool performance! No reserve, bidding starts at $20.
Every record I auction has been cleaned on a Nitty Gritty vacuum/cleaner. I played every record to determine if there are static, tics, pops, hisses, what have you. I endeavor to thoroughly report any extraneous audio "noise" or problems of any significance. Other than that, I will report on the general condition of each record, both vinyl and jacket, according to Goldmine standards, to the best of my ability.
Every record is put into a new, clean sleeve insert. In the case of an interesting original sleeve insert, I'll include that in the sale.
If you're into this stuff, you might want to save me to your seller's list and check back periodically. I'll be putting a lot of vintage jazz records up for auction. I'm not a collector, nor an audiophile, but I think they are desirable if you're into this kind of material. Click "see other items" and thanks for looking!
