Description
Hi! You're looking at a great condition Vinyl LP and a 1967 PROMO copy and STEREO issue which is a classic album on the BLUE NOTE label by trumpeter DONALD BYRD titled "Blackjack"--the LP is one of Byrd's finest on the label and features SONNY RED on alto saxophone, HANK MOBLEY on tenor saxophone, CEDAR WALTON on piano, WALTER BOOKER on drums and BILLY HIGGINS on drums. The LP is a Blue Note Records album with the serial number BST-84259 and is a PROMOTIONAL COPY with an embossed Promo stamp on the upper left corner of the front cover and is either a First Pressing or a very early pressing--the LP does not have a Van Gelder stamp in the runout groove but otherwise has all the attributes of a first pressing, so this may be a pressing anomaly; it was pressed in the United States in 1967.
This LP is in great condition and the vinyl plays VERY well and is in VG+ condition visually with a few hairline marks and a number of moderate and light scuffs and paper scuffs that produce a few light pops in several spots for short durations and two pops at the very beginning of side two--THE ALBUM HAS BEEN SOUND-GRADED IN ITS ENTIRETY and plays EXTREMELY well (VG++ based on sound) and is a fantastic listen. The cover is in VG++ condition with a small discolored spot on the lower right edge of the cover, a small abrasion on the center lower edge of the back cover, a clean 1 inch split on the lower center edge, a tiny check mark on the upper right of the back cover, slight ringwear on the surfaces, a slight 3/4 inch split on the lower opening edge, a few small abrasions on the upper and lower edges and just light shelfwear but no other significant flaws--it's NOT a cutout! The ORIGINAL LIBERTY RECORDS INNER SLEEVE is also included and is in excellent condition. The ORIGINAL LIBERTY RECORDS INNER SLEEVE is also included and in excellent shape, with small center splits on the lower and one of the side edges.
Vinyl Grading Standards (unless otherwise indicated, LPs are visually graded)
Mint (or M) – Sealed and effectively perfect with no signs of wear or ever having been played.
Near Mint -- A record with only the slightest evidence of ever having been handled.
Very Good Plus Plus (VG++) A very clean record that has no marks aside from slight scuffs and abrasions caused by removal from a paper inner sleeve or perhaps a few marks on the label caused by a turntable spindle.
Very Good Plus (VG+) A record that has had a number of plays and may have some superficial scuffs, possibly mild to moderate spindle marks and / or possibly hairline scratches on the vinyl, which may produce some intermittent pops and possibly very light background noise.
Very Good (VG) A record that has generally been well cared for, but has seen a fair amount of play, with some scuffing. hairline scratches, spindle marks and / or light scratches. Should play through well, with the possibility of more pops and more background noise.
Very Good Minus (VG-) A record with significant scuffs, scratches, and spindle marks that should play through with moderate pops and surface noise, possibly of some duration.
Good (G) A record with will play through, but with significant pops, substantial background noise, and possibly intermittent skipping.
Poor (P) A record with MAJOR issues that will interfere with play, and will possibly be unplayable in part due to damage (I'll only offer an LP in this condition if it's an extreme rarity and / or for cover art display purposes).
A fantastic find, and a beautiful copy of this vinyl LP!
