Description

This is the original mono first press of "The Sect" by Downliners Sect, issued in 1964.
Columbia/EMI logos on cover, cat# 33SX 1658.
With original 'Emitex' liner (grey text print on white) .

Downliners Sect were a great 60's Mod/Rhythm & Blues band, in the vein of The Yardbirds and the Rolling Stones.
This is a good opportunity to grab an original first-press of their 14-track debut mono album "The Sect"

Vinyl (Good): Blue/black labels on heavyweight vinyl. For a 48 year-old record it's not too bad. Noticeable scuffs & scratches, so it's a Good-
Run-outs: XAX 2729-1N and XAX 2730-1N
(Note: Both sides have the early '1G' stampers at 9 & 3 o'clock respectively)

'Flipback' Sleeve (Fair): The laminated front has a few creases and small black marks. The spine & edges are in reasonable order, with no splits. The liner has a few creases and a very small split at the foot. But, sadly, the un-laminated back has a few red biro marks on the text, an owner's name in blue biro and a small black mark above text. The white is yellowed and a little grubby at the open edge. So, I can only grade it at the low end (see c/u pic of back scribbles).

I have only bothered to list this 'less than perfect' issue as it remains quite a 'collector's item' worth having, with VG copies having sold in the past on ebay for as much as £200. I'd rather keep it in my collection out of interest than give it away, so I've set the bid at a fair figure given its rarity.
